The Bunker’s new Data Centre ‘London’s N+1’, offers the world without traversing London
Today The Bunker announces that a full planning application has been submitted to Dover District Council for the development of a new additional Data Centre facility on their existing site in Kent.
The Bunker engaged Global Data Centre design and build specialists CH2MHill on the project in early 2007. The Bunker and CH2MHill have worked closely with Dover District Council including public consultations with the local community and English Heritage to ensure a sensitive design that blends in with the surrounding area, maintaining harmony with both the environment and the secure nature of the facility. The project is envisaged to create widespread economic benefits to the East Kent economy, whilst raising the profile of the area and attracting world class businesses to the County.
The Development, called ‘The Bunker 2 – London’s N+1’ delivers 12,000 m2 of high specification data floor within the existing defences of The Bunker facility, along with 2000m2 of support office accommodation staffed 24/7/365 by security and technical personnel. The development is a modular low profile design cut into the landscape with a grass roof. The new facility provides a highly secure, low risk Internet hub outside London servicing clients who wish to house systems in the UK, but who also require access to the World Wide Web without entering the high risk London zones.
