The Bunker’s secondary data centre in Newbury is an ex US Air Force base situated on Greenham Common. Like the primary data centre in Kent, it was also built as a nuclear command and control centre and possesses a similar level of physical security. The Newbury site is a purpose built fortress. It guards your systems and data from every potential threat that can compromise the availability of your business critical applications. |
Our comprehensive onsite security includes:

- military electro magnetic pulse protection
- ‘Tempest’ RFI intrusion protection
- 24-hour sentry
- Ministry of Defence-trained guard dogs
- CCTV
- and, sophisticated access controls.
Power and air conditioning
- A 415 volt, 3-phase power supply
- Back-up power by auto start (pre heated) 650 kVA, 3-phase 415V generator, which is fuelled from a 1,700-litre tank
- Bulk diesel tank stores 250,000 litres of back up fuel
- UPS back-up power installed for systems power continuity through transition to generator power
- Air conditioning is provided by a combination of existing plant and spot coolers. Spot cooling is delivered via multiple compact systems each with its own condenser system, achieving N+1 redundancy.
Fire detection and suppression
- Each suite is protected by a fire detection system. A choice of advanced detection and suppression systems are available on request.
Secured network connectivity
- Diverse connectivity from a number of bandwidth providers or the flexibility of installing your own independent provider
- BGP4 routing provides resilience against individual line failure.
Network Operations Centre (NOC)
The Bunker is staffed by System and Network Administrators and security staff 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The NOC is responsible for monitoring and administering the core ISP systems and for providing you with round the clock support.
