Background

The Bunker Disaster Recovery with Veeam Cloud Connect

The Bunker’s Data Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) is a cloud-based disaster recovery solution for your virtual machines. Powered with Veeam Cloud Connect Replication, it allows you to use Veeam Backup and Replication to replicate your VMWare or Microsoft Hyper-V virtual machines to our Cloud, so in the event of a disaster the replicated virtual machines can be switched on, getting up and running very quickly to allow you to have a Recovery Time Objective (RTO) of only a few minutes.

Is it right for me?

We know that all companies rely on their computer systems, and any downtime of your systems have costly results. However, providing dedicated, offsite infrastructure for disaster recovery purposes can, equally, be very costly. The Bunker’s DRaaS solution meets your needs, covering all your virtual machines, for an affordable monthly fee.

Not only that, our DRaaS is more than just a Disaster Recovery solution; the partial failover also protects you from single virtual machine failures, which are much more common, and could be the result of a host hardware issue, software issue or even accidental deletion of files.

You can also use the partial failover feature as a way to test software upgrades, by failing over and testing on the replicated server, then either failback to the original server (without the changes), or replicate the changes back into your production server.

Ensure you data is always available with Veeam backup and disaster recovery solutions for your managed or un-managed virtual machines, servers, workstations and Office 365 Data.

Why choose The Bunker?

You can either perform a partial failover of one or more of your virtual machines to us, which continues to make use of your infrastructures connectivity by stretching the virtual machine network to us (the failed over virtual machines appear as if they are still in your environment). Or in the event of a complete disaster you can bring all the replicated virtual machines up and running with The Bunker providing appropriate Internet access to them from our data centre.

You can rest easy when your service is with The Bunker; all traffic is secured over a SSL connection over the Internet, with no need to setup a VPN or dedicated line, plus there is no limit on the amount of time you can be failed over, with an additional option to permanently run your virtual machines from The Bunker.

You also have the choice of storing your data in either of The Bunker’s ultra-secure UK data centres, which come with 24/7/365 onsite security and support. The Bunker are a Veeam Gold Service provider, with Veeam trained and certified engineers.

How we helped Civica

How Veeam Cloud Connect at The Bunker works

In your local Veeam backup and replication server, you setup a connection to our service, which provides a destination to replicate your virtual machines too. You then decide on the frequency and number of restore points.

After the initial full replication, only block level changes are replicated to your defined schedule to match your Recovery Point Objective (RPO).

In the activation of a partial failover of one or more virtual machines, the solution also starts very small virtual network appliances on the customers and The Bunker’s hypervisors that creates a secure connection and act as a gateway to transit traffic to and from the failover over virtual machines. All virtual machines keep their existing IP addresses and continue to communicate with each other.

If a full failover is activated, then the Network Appliances at The Bunker give the failed over virtual machines access to/from the Internal with pre-defined access and NAT rules.
