MPLS Services: Layer 2 Interconnect and Layer 3 VPNs

Layer 2 Interconnections, also called Backhaul or VPLS, allow a single network to be stretched over multiple locations. We can provide VPLS between our sites, or onwards to any location as a managed service.

Where the resilience or unpredictable performance of the internet doesn’t fit your connectivity purposes, or security compliance and regulations require private connectivity, building VPLS networks can be an easy cost effective solution. With options for high availability, VPLS can meet the demands of the most business critical services.

On the other hand, Layer 3 VPNs (L3VPNs), also called VRFs, allow multiple locations to be connected together into a private routable network. The Bunker can also provide VRFs between our sites or onwards to any location.

Is it right for me?

With the unpredictability of, and limited, Service Level Agreements (SLAs) associated with Internet latency, businesses often opt for dedicated connectivity solutions to deliver guaranteed speed and availability to end customers.

If you have a growing business and site to site VPN’s are no longer proving to be cost effective or are unable to meet your performance and security requirements, using VPLS to build a multi-site network is the natural next step. Many of our customers operate within regulatory frameworks where internet-based connections are prohibited or require additional security that can prove cost prohibitive. VPLS provides private point to point connection that mitigates these risks.

Using L3VPNs is like stretching a virtual router between your office locations and your environment in The Bunker. Unlike communication across the Internet, L3VPNs offer predictable latency and is backed by a SLA to meet your business needs.

Connect anywhere, to anywhere, with predictable and consistent results with uncontended connectivity

Why choose The Bunker?

The Bunker’s core network is defined as being carrier neutral. The Bunker’s cross site links and connections to the Internet are provided by a diverse set of suppliers and connectivity hubs, eliminating a dependency on any single provider or location. Our innovative solutions are provided by the advanced features that we have embedded within our network.

We provide high levels of diversity by default, avoiding single suppliers and connectivity hubs, and eliminating single points of failure whether that be a network hardware or a provider’s network.

The Bunker works closely with trusted key partners to deliver connectivity outside of our locations to ensure that the onward connectivity supports your requirements. This onward connectivity can be wrapped up and put under a single service wrapper, providing our customers a single point of contact for all connectivity requirements, no matter the location or the provider.

How MPLS Services work

The Bunker’s MPLS network can create virtual routers to forward traffic between any of our locations and we can also provide onwards connectivity to any location using dedicated circuits.

Our services are delivered with single or high availability network terminations solutions, controlling connection fail-over either within our core network or within your own network infrastructure.

VPLS services can be provided at bandwidths as low as 10Mb/s to multiple 100’s Gb/s depending on your technical requirements.

The customer will peer with the Bunker at each location using a routing protocol. This virtual router will distribute the routes around to each location, creating a private virtual network.
